Disneyland Guide | Tips & Hacks for your Trip

All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them. – Walt Disney

Magical kingdoms in which the dreams one had as a child become true und the imaginations and fantasies turn into reality. This is my definition for the Walt Disney Theme Parks and Resorts. Certainly, we did not miss to visit the Disney Park in Paris when we traveled to France last month. It was truly beautiful and if you want to visit a Disney resort in the near future, we highly recommend you to keep the following hacks and tips in your mind. Even though these parks are absolutely wonderful, there are several things one has to take into account, in order to turn the vacation into a fairy tale worthy adventure.

1. Plan your stay

The best thing you can do is to stay at the Disneyland Resort, but if you are looking for a more affordable alternative, you can search for a hotel in the district “Marne La Vallee”. It is not the most beautiful and definitely not the cleanest district, though. If you are going to visit the city, too, try booking a place that is located in the city center. You can easily get to the park by metro and it will take you only 40 minutes.

If you  have little children…: I would like to point out that you should maybe rethink the idea of traveling to a Disney Resort if your children are still toddlers. I have the feeling that these kind of amusement parks are just not meant for little babies. Do not get me wrong! It is still your decision and you as the legal guardian should decide whether to visit the park with your baby/babies or not, but I would not like to visit an extremely crowded place with small children, especially if these babies are still too young to remember or even understand that experience! During our stay, I saw an innumerous amount of stressed parents with crying and screaming babies, trying to get through that mass of people, that I asked myself if that “torture” is actually worth it. I am not a mother since I am still a student and therefore, too young to think about children, but I already know that I will become an overprotective one. Consequently, I have to say that I would not put my babies through something like that. However, if the kids are 5 or, ideally, 7 and older, it is definitely certain to say that you can visit the park without any concerns.

2. Top 5 rides

– Big Thunder Mountain
– Indiana Jones™
– It’s a small world
– Phantom Manor
– Hyperspace Mountain
This list is based on my personal opinion. I suggest, you visit the Disneyland-Paris-Website to have a look at the attractions in order to plan your own trip.

3. Avoid waiting lines

There are three aspects you should bear in mind if you want to avoid waiting in line for hours and hours. Firstly, do not visit the park on weekends and / or the holidays. Secondly, check out the Appstore and download an app that shows you a map of the park with the different attractions and waiting lines on it. This is incredibly amazing because you do not only see the waiting lines on the app, but also know exactly where to go if you want to eat something specific or just need a restroom. Thirdly, delay eating lunch until 2 or 3 because that is when the lines for rides start to get longer and as a consequence of this, you do not have to wait in line for your food! Fourthly, skip watching the parade and spent your time riding attractions instead. Lots of people prefer watching the parade and that is why the lines become shorter during this time. Lastly, note that some attractions offer you the possibility to use your ticket as a so called “FASTPASS”. All you have to do is to get your ticket scanned in the machines at the entrance of the attractions. Afterwards, you will receive your FASTPASS ticket with your return time. Do not forget to return to the attraction at the time that is indicated on your FASTPASS ticket. You will board within a matter of minutes via the special FASTPASS entrance. Keep in mind that one can only have a single FASTPASS ticket at a time. The next FASTPASS ticket can only be obtained once the previous one has been used or 2 hours after the previous one. Here is a list of the attractions that offer this Fastpass option:

  • Indiana Jones™ and the Temple of Peril, Adventureland®
  • Star Wars: Hyperspace Mountain, Discoveryland
  • Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast*, Discoveryland
  • Big Thunder Mountain, Frontierland®
  • Peter Pan’s Flight, Fantasyland®
  • Star Tours, Discoveryland

  • Rock’n’Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith, Backlot
  • The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™**, Production Courtyard
  • Flying Carpets over Agrabah, Toon Studio
  • Ratatouille: The Adventure, Toon Studio

4. Food & Drinks

I recommend you to take a small backpack with you that does not bother you during the rides, but is still big enough to store some snacks and drinks inside of it. Eating snacks while waiting may increase your patience…If you prefer to buy something at the park, you can check out the stores by clicking here and the restaurants here.

5. What to Wear ?

You are probably going to take lots and lots of pictures and I assume that you want to look good in those. Therefore, I recommend you to wear something you feel beautiful in. Nevertheless, make sure to pick out something that is not only fabulous looking, but also comfortable. After all, you will stay and walk the whole day and consequently, your feet are going to hurt and you will get tired and feel exhausted from time to time.

I decided to wear my Fenty Bow Sneakers (click HERE for a review) and paired them with a matching pink satin bodysuit by PrettyLittleThing, high waisted jeans and a headband. My ivory colored Ted Baker bag completed the look. Jassy combined a long sleeved pink top with dark jeans, her Puma sneakers and a little black handbag.

I love the outfit, and I would love to go to Disneyland Paris within the next 2 years. I am planning to go to Disneyland in California next year, and I did Disney World earlier this year. This guide will definitely be helpful with planning my trip, and your outfit is fabulous!

Having just returned from the one in Tokyo: your tips kinda apply for both the parks. Loved the app and fast passes too. Honest suggestions!
