Find the right Natural Oils for your Skin Type!

Integrating natural oils into the daily skin-care routine is viewed skeptically.  It is believed to make the skin look geasy, oily and shiny, which are traits associated with unhygienic conditions and an unattractive appearance. On the contrary, natural oils will help you to improve your skins condition and health, however, only if you make sure to choose the right oils for your skin! There  are a bunch of “good“ oils and “bad oils“, oils that may help you to protect and clear your skin and oils that could make it only worse by clogging your pores. After detailed research, I summarized the benefits of certain oils and sorted them by putting them into different categories that will indicate you which natural oil is the right choice for your skin type. Natural Oils for Dry Skin

Argan Oil is rich in vitamin A and E, while it is also packed with anti-oxidants, Omega-6 fatty acids, and linoleic acid. It eases inflammation, moisturizes the skin and boosts cell production. You can moisturize your skin, treat and prevent break outs, while keeping your skin young and fresh! Win win!

Almond Oil: Almonds are not only super healthy for your body! It will keep your skin soft, prevent future acne, protects the skin from UV radiation, is safe for sensitive skin and as if this is not enough, it can be used to brighten up the undereye area. I will definitely try this one out!

Coconut & Olive Oil are options for those who have extremely dry skin, however, do not use it if your skin is just slightly dry and still breaks out from time to time. These oils are suitable as bodylotions, though!

Natural Oils for Oily and Acne Prone Skin

Jojoba Oil is not only extremely light, but also the nearest to our own natural sebum in molecular structure. It tricks the skin into stopping the overproduction of its own oils. Hazelnut and Sesam Oil work, too because these oils are on the “drier” side of the spectrum. Moreover, apricot oil is very light and suitable for oily skin!

White ginger-lily, chamomile, rosemary, lavender, rose and eucalyptus are known for their anti-inflammatory properties, while myrth and ylang ylang works as antioxidants. The same things go for tamanu oil. Especially ylang ylang and myrth fight acne, while tea treelavender and eucalyptus will calm breakouts. I recommend you to purchase jojoba oil and to mix it with a few drops of any of the  aforementioned oils that will help you to get rid of breakouts.

Natural Oils for Mixed Skin

Raspberry Seed Oil is high in essential fatty acids, replenishes moisture, is very light and therefore, will not clog your pores.

Avocado Oil with it’s high levels of antioxidants, monounsaturated fats, phytosterols and vitamin E will hydrate your skin, prevent it from drying out and may also reduce acne problem.

Natural Oils for Sensitive Skin

As long as you do not suffer under specific medical conditions or allergies, natural oils will not harm your skin. On the contrary, skin conditions can even be treated with natural oils.

Natural Oils for Aging Skin

Vitamin A, C and E are very important for aging skin! The following oils are also fine for people with dry or normal skin.

Argan Oil is one option due to the aforementioned cell production boosting properties.

Grapeseed Oil is known for it’s swelling reducing, wound healing, Alzheimer’s disease delaying, high blood pressure preventing and even immune system strenghening and cancer preventing properties. It is a powerful antioxidant and delays skin aging by minimizing damage caused by free radicals. It offers protection against sun damage (but please do not forget to use a SPF anyway!) and improves the skins overall appearance by keeping it young, fresh and tight! While nourishing the skin, it repairs it and may also reduce acne. Use it for age spots, sunburns, wrinkles, stretch marks or as an overall skin treatment. It is perfect for the thin skin around your eyes and neck. The same things go for Pomegranate Seed Oil as weill!

Passion Fruit Seed oil is rich in fatty acids and will make the skin stay plump and smooth. The skin absorbs it easily and due to it’s high levels of vitamin A, it can help to improve the look of aging skin.

Natural Oils for Reducing Scars

Lemon Oil, Carrot Seed Oil and Lavender Oil will help you to get rid of scars faster.

Rosehip Oil is known to even out the skin tone and to heal scars, too. This one is also suitable for dry and aging skin due to its moisturizing, skin-firming and collagen building properties.

If you suffer from hypertension, skin allergies and / or other medical conditions, see your doctor to check if these oils are fine for your skin. Make sure to use 100% pure and high quality natural oils. Unless you are allergic or suffer under certain conditions, natural products will not harm you. Mother nature offers us nothing but the best and you can bet that these products are better for your skin than most of the chemical ingredients packed products you probably put on your face on a daily basis.

If you go for a essential oil, please do not use it  directly for your skin, but rather dilute it with a carrier oil (1 drop of essential oil mixed with 1 tsp of the carrier oil should be fine).
